Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia - Epsilon Rho

About Phi Mu Alpha

           Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is a collegiate social fraternity for men of musicianly character. Today it has over 200 chapters serving to "advance music in America" on college campuses nationwide. To date, more than 150,000 men have been initiated into Phi Mu Alpha, making it the largest and oldest secret society of music. Phi Mu Alpha was founded on October 6th, 1898 by Ossian Everett Mills and thirteen students at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Sinfonia then became a national fraternity two years later in 1900 with the addition of a group from Broadstreet Conservatory of Music in Philadelpha, Pennsylvania as the Beta Chapter.

The Object

The Object of this Fraternity shall be for
The development of the best and truest fraternal spirit
The mutual welfare and brotherhood of musical students
The advancement of music in America
And a loyalty to the Alma Mater.

About Epsilon Rho

Harbored at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb Illinois, the Epsilon Rho chapter was first founded on May 30th, 1950. After being disbanded in 1983, it was reinstated on November 19th, 1994. It is a part of Province 37, along with several other chapters in Northern and Central Illinois.

Joining

Those men who have music in their hearts are welcome to join Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Epsilon Rho rushes for new members during the first two or three weeks of each fall and spring semester.
